Introducing Norwich Chiropractor Dr. Kirsti Goodfellow

Chiropractor Kirsti GoodfellowYou are amazing. Just think for a moment about what is going on in your body as you’re reading this. You are breathing, digesting food, producing hormones, all at the same time, and you don’t have to think about it to make it happen, fantastic!!

Every day I am astounded by the body’s ability to heal. We take it for granted. You started as two cells and are now a thinking, moving person. I am so honoured to help people re-discover how fantastic they are and become part of their journey to become the best they can be.

When people ask me why I became a chiropractor, I say chiropractic found me. I always knew that I wanted to work with people, but was never attracted to the sickness model of orthodox medicine. I wanted to do a vocational degree at university. A friend had accepted a place at Glamorgan University and on looking through their prospectus noticed they offered a Science degree in Chiropractic, I knew that I’d found what I was looking for.

The Welsh Institute of Chiropractic at the University of Glamorgan in South Wales offered me the chance to obtain a degree in chiropractic and to be part of a university with students studying a number of different degrees.

I loved learning about how the human body worked and the practical nature of the degree. I become president of the chiropractic student society in my final year and was honoured to be awarded Graduate of the Year on leaving.

I graduated knowing that I could safely care for people, but my understanding of what it means to be a chiropractor has developed since. Working with Dr Wilson, we have embarked on a journey to discover true health and in so doing have developed a great programme of care for our clients. He is a fantastic doctor, empowering, patient and driven, a real inspiration. Dr Wilson has introduced me to the work of Dr Chestnut a leader in Wellness chiropractic, and Dr’s Gentempo and Kent who, in conjunction with NASA, developed the neurological scanning equipment we use within the centre.

Kirsti adjusts a patientWe aim to provide a professional, safe place to empower people to make changes to their health. Pain is what commonly causes people to seek care with us and using well researched techniques we take them thought the stages of healing from pain relief to rehabilitation and then onto wellness care. The regular assessments ensure that we are making progress and that the client is gaining tools and health knowledge to allow greater involvement in their own health and that of their family.

I have a particular passion to see children reach adulthood in optimal health. Chiropractic care is a safe and effective way to care for children, and we see some fantastic results, with parents reporting improved behaviour, immunity and digestion. I love to see children become more healthy, achieve more, and become the best they can be. Inspired Chiropractic aims to be a resource centre for parents, helping them make the best decisions regarding the physical, chemical and emotional environment of their children, always based on sound evidence and research.

I am getting married in early 2010, so most of my free time is taken up with planning (and day-dreaming!) for the big day. I met my fiancé at a wedding in Stellenbosh, South Africa, 3 ½ years ago. Shane is a construction site manager for a large residential housing company, and spends his free time playing golf and rugby for North Walsham Rugby Club.

We enjoy spending time with family and friends, eating good food and occasionally going to the cinema. I love spending time outdoors, and have introduced Shane to the great, challenging sport of snowboarding. I also enjoy Pilates, fitness classes, hiking and going to the gym. To relax I like nothing better than loosing myself in a good book, reading anything from crime to classic children’s stories.

Chiropractic is a lifestyle. Regular spinal checks ensure my nervous system functions well. Each day I have a greater respect for the innate healing ability of the body. As I learn more about health and wellness I continue to make changes to the food I eat, the exercise I do and the products I use. Health is an objective and chiropractic an essential part of that journey. My mum has been a client at the centre since I was at university and comments how chiropractic makes her “... aware of how she can be”. Both my sisters receive regular care and say that they are better physically and emotionally as a result.

How much better could you be? What steps could you take today to improve your health tomorrow? Are you happy surviving? Wouldn’t you rather thrive?

Chiropractic can be the gateway to creating wellness in you and your family. So what’s stopping you?

Be all you can be.
